Pakistan, June 1 -- Coordinator to the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Saif Ur Rehman on Sunday said the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has created a significant opportunity for Pakistan's ports and logistics sector, which could translate into substantial economic gains if supported by timely reforms and effective governance.
Talking to a delegation of students from Murasaki Japanese Language Centre, led by its Chief Executive Officer Usman Akhtar, he said the surge in port traffic resulting from shifting trade routes and increased regional demand could provide a major boost to the national economy. He added that Pakistan has a rare opportunity to transform itself into a regional trade and transit hub.
