Pakistan, Aug. 24 -- Pakistan-backed candidates have secured all three Asian Cricket Council (ACC) board seats, defeating an India-backed panel in a closely contested election in Bangkok.

The election was held during the ACC Annual General Meeting, where three director positions on the board were contested by Pakistan- and India-backed panels.

According to sources, the winning panel, backed by ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Mohsin Naqvi, included representatives from Qatar, Singapore and the Maldives.

The three candidates secured victory after a close contest, while the India-backed panel suffered defeat.
