Pakistan, Oct. 2 -- Pakistan, India and defending champions Australia have been placed in the same group for the 2027 Cricket World Cup, the International Cricket Council announced on Thursday.

India will begin its campaign against Australia in Cape Town on October 7. Three days later, India will face Pakistan at Johannesburg's Wanderers Stadium in one of the tournament's high-profile group matches.

The World Cup will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The tournament will begin on October 4, while the final is scheduled for November 27.
