Pakistan, Aug. 10 -- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Monday that the recently signed Pakistan-Saudi-Turkiye defence agreement was entirely defensive and aimed at promoting regional peace.

The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement was signed on August 7 by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye. It seeks to strengthen collective deterrence among the three countries.

Addressing the federal cabinet, Shehbaz said the agreement treats an attack against one signatory as an attack against all three. He said the pact was not intended to facilitate aggression.
