Pakistan, April 24 -- The Punjab Assembly on Thursday passed the Provincial Motor Vehicle (Fourth Amendment) Ordinance 2025 with a majority vote, introducing revisions aimed at reducing fines for various traffic violations.
The ordinance will come into effect following final approval by the Governor of Punjab. The House also endorsed amendments earlier approved by the Standing Committee on Interior on April 1.
Under the revised framework, fines for certain motorcycle violations have been reduced from Rs 2,000 to Rs 1,000, with the maximum penalty capped at Rs 2,000. Similarly, fines for some rickshaw violations have been lowered from Rs 3,000 to Rs 1,000, while serious offences by rickshaw drivers will carry a penalty of Rs 2,000.
