Pakistan, Sept. 7 -- Oil prices climbed on Monday as fresh US-Iran attacks raised fears of longer disruptions to global energy supplies. Brent crude rose 52 cents to $96.80 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate gained 66 cents to $92.14 a barrel. Both benchmarks posted strong gains last week as fighting resumed. Brent increased 7.8%, while WTI gained nearly 10%.

The latest attacks targeted vessels near the Strait of Hormuz and other areas. The waterway carries about one-fifth of global oil supplies during normal conditions.
