Pakistan, Aug. 7 -- New York City has launched a major crackdown on online retailers selling illegal electric bikes and scooters. The action targets 42 companies. Mayor Zohran Mamdani issued cease-and-desist notices to several major retailers. The list includes Amazon, Walmart, Target, Wayfair, and Temu's parent company, PDD Holdings. The city accuses the companies of selling electric vehicles that fail to meet state safety standards. Officials said many models exceed legal speed or weight limits.
