Pakistan, Aug. 12 -- Nicholas Hoult is heading from the world of superheroes to Hogwarts, joining the second season of HBO's Harry Potter series as Gilderoy Lockhart.

Hoult, who portrays Lex Luthor in Superman, will play the flamboyant and often inept Hogwarts professor in the upcoming season of the wizarding reboot.

HBO Max confirmed the 36-year-old actor's casting on August 11, adding another major name to an already high-profile lineup for the series' second chapter.

Hoult joins John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall and Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy. Newcomers will also play Harry, Ron and Hermione.
