Pakistan, July 29 -- The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has heard the Central Power Purchasing 's (CPPA) request for a Rs1.20 per unit increase in electricity tariffs under the June fuel price adjustment mechanism. The proposed adjustment could affect electricity consumers after the regulator's final decision.

During the hearing, CPPA officials said 13.07 billion units of electricity were sold in June. The stated that the estimated fuel cost for electricity generation was Rs7.71 per unit during the month. However, the actual fuel cost increased to Rs8.91 per unit.
