Pakistan, Sept. 27 -- The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has proposed new grid-sharing charges for high-rise buildings and changes to electricity connection rules. The proposals target buildings requiring dedicated transformers above 500 kVA and certain industrial consumers.

Under the proposed amendments, buildings needing transformers with capacity above 500 kVA would have to pay grid-sharing charges. Existing rules exempt ground-plus-three-storey buildings from the category of multi-storey or high-rise buildings. NEPRA has proposed changes to this arrangement under the revised Consumer Service Manual.
