Pakistan, Aug. 28 -- The death toll from devastating floods across Nepal and Tibet has risen above 470. Rescue teams are continuing operations despite difficult conditions. Nepal reported 469 confirmed deaths and 977 missing people on Friday. Chinese authorities reported three deaths and 558 missing in Tibet. Authorities fear the number of missing people could increase as rescue operations continue.

The disaster began after a glacier collapse sent ice, water, rocks and mud through Himalayan valleys. The powerful surge buried villages and destroyed roads, bridges and hydropower facilities.
