Pakistan, Aug. 11 -- The federal cabinet has approved the National Housing Policy 2026, introducing a new national framework for housing and urban planning after nearly 25 years.

The policy aims to promote adequate, affordable and sustainable housing while improving access to basic facilities and supporting infrastructure across the country.

Moreover, the framework gives special attention to low-cost housing for low-income families and people living in rural areas, addressing major barriers to suitable housing. The policy also covers land availability, housing finance, construction services, modern technology and building materials to support development across Pakistan's housing sector.
