Pakistan, June 28 -- Religious scholar Nasir Madni has publicly apologised to actress Momina Iqbal after receiving a legal notice over remarks he made about her. In a video statement, Madani said that if any of his comments had caused hurt or distress to Momina Iqbal or her family, he sincerely apologised. He added that hurting anyone's feelings was never his intention and therefore chose to offer a public apology.

Madni also appealed to women across Pakistan to stand up for one another's dignity and rights. He said that protecting the honour and respect of every daughter of Pakistan is a shared responsibility, adding that "all daughters belong to all of us."
