Pakistan, June 30 -- More than 58,000 buildings were likely damaged or destroyed in Venezuela following last week's devastating twin earthquakes, according to a preliminary satellite-based assessment released by the United States space , NASA.
The powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck the South American country on June 24, leaving at least 1,700 people dead and thousands more missing. The disaster is regarded as the strongest seismic event to hit Venezuela in more than a century, triggering widespread destruction across several affected regions.
