Pakistan, March 6 -- The federal government has approved a three-year extension for National Accountability Bureau Chairman Lt. Gen. (Retired) Nazir Ahmed, allowing him to continue leading the anti-corruption watchdog from March 6, 2026. The move follows recent legislative changes permitting such extensions.

The extension comes under the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, and the Ministry of Law and Justice has issued an official notification confirming the decision. Lt. Gen. Ahmed's new tenure will operate under the same terms and conditions as his current appointment.
