Pakistan, Oct. 4 -- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated five road projects under the Punjab PPP Authority. Private companies will now manage toll collection, maintenance and repair work on these roads.

The projects include the 80-kilometre Muridke-Narowal Road and 33-kilometre Shakargarh-Narowal Road. They also cover the 97-kilometre Faisalabad Ring Road, 52-kilometre Faisalabad-Sahianwala Road and 56-kilometre Faisalabad-Samundri-Rajana Road.

The projects could generate Rs22 billion for the Punjab government. Private contractors will collect tolls linked to the National Highway Authority for seven years. The government will also install modern electronic toll plazas on the roads.
