Pakistan, Sept. 18 -- The Lahore High Court has suspended a Pakistan Medical and Dental Council notification that allowed medical colleges to increase student fees. Justice Khalid Ishaq heard a petition filed by Central Park Medical College against the notification. Advocate Ramzan Dhudhi represented the petitioner college during the hearing.
The college's counsel told the court that Central Park Medical College had collected Rs2.1 million from students at admission. He said the PMDC later issued a notification allowing colleges to raise fees by five per cent annually. The counsel challenged the council's authority to permit such increases.
