Pakistan, June 29 -- Lahore is expected to experience a dangerous heat index of up to 50degC over the next two days, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned. Rising humidity is expected to intensify the heatwave, making temperatures feel significantly higher than actual readings. Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activity and stay hydrated.
Meteorological Department Director Aleemul Hassan said increasing moisture in the atmosphere will keep heatwave conditions in place today and tomorrow. He explained that higher humidity will raise the feels-like temperature to between 48degC and 50degC. The ongoing heatwave is expected to persist until weather conditions begin changing.
