Pakistan, Sept. 7 -- The Pakistan Stock Exchange faced heavy selling pressure on Monday, with the KSE-100 index losing 1,003.40 points. The benchmark index fell 0.57% to 174,325.42 by 1:29pm. Rising oil prices and Strait of Hormuz tensions weakened investor sentiment across major sectors.
The index opened the week under pressure, declining 429.59 points early in the session. It reached an intraday high of 175,353.67 before falling to 174,313.12. Selling affected oil marketing companies, automobile assemblers, cement firms, banks and refineries.
Trading activity remained active during the session, with around 100.91 million shares changing hands. The total traded value reached approximately Rs5.87 billion by midday. The KSE-100 had close...
