Pakistan, Aug. 2 -- The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said it is fully prepared to conduct local government (LG) elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), but recent amendments to the provincial local government law have delayed the completion of the electoral process in some districts. According to the ECP official release issued here on Saturday, delimitation has been completed in 23 districts of the province, while work is continuing in the remaining seven districts. The commission held a consultative meeting with the KP Chief Secretary and Secretary Local Government on July 14 under Section 219(3) of the Elections Act before announcing the election schedule and granted the provincial government 15 days to respond.
