Pakistan, Aug. 29 -- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has vowed tougher child protection laws after a five-year-old girl's rape and murder. He promised exemplary punishment for those responsible for the crime in Haripur. The government will also rename the province's child protection law after the victim.
The girl disappeared from outside her home in Haripur on August 10. Authorities recovered her body from an unused well on August 24. Police found the location after receiving information from one of four suspects arrested in the case.
Afridi visited the girl's family on Saturday and expressed condolences to her father. He said the suspects would face severe punishment regardless of their ages. The chief minister said suc...
