Pakistan, Oct. 29 -- Defence Minister Khawaja Asif rejected criticism from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the recent high-level diplomatic delegation to Tehran. Addressing the National Assembly, Asif clarified that Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir visited the Iranian capital to promote regional peace and facilitate dialogue. Furthermore, the defence minister emphasized that no formal defense agreements were negotiated during the summit, making the presence of the Ministry of Defence unnecessary. Consequently, Asif called on parliamentary leadership and opposition parties to recognize Pakistan's active diplomatic role in de-escalating Middle Eastern conflicts.
