Pakistan, Oct. 7 -- All government and semi government institutions remained closed across Khairpur Mirs district on Tuesday due to the death of the last ruler of the erstwhile Khairpur State, Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur II.

The district administration announced a local public holiday in the entire district for today to mourn his demise.

Accordingly, all government offices, educational institutions, and semi government departments remained closed. An atmosphere of grief prevails in Kot Diji and across the district. Mir Ali Murad Khan II, 93, died on Monday at a private hospital where he was under treatment. His son, Prince Mir Mehdi Raza Talpur, confirmed his death.
