Pakistan, Oct. 6 -- The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has announced that the next phase of its anti-government movement will be launched from Multan, the political heart of southern Punjab.

According to JUI spokesperson Aslam Ghauri, a Mufti Mahmood Conference will be held in Multan on October 15, which he described as a significant milestone in the party's struggle for the protection of public rights and against inflation and lawlessness. Ghauri said the conference would help determine the political direction of southern Punjab, adding that JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and other central and provincial leaders would address the gathering.
