Pakistan, Sept. 19 -- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has announced a march against the petroleum levy. He said the march will begin from Karachi on Sunday. The announcement came during a press conference in Lahore.
Rehman demanded that the government abolish the petroleum levy instead of offering relief packages. He said current measures failed to address the wider financial burden on consumers. He also highlighted the rising cost of basic household needs.
According to Rehman, several charges together add around Rs106 to Rs107 per litre. These include customs duty, climate support levy and petroleum levy. He also mentioned additional charges and margins across the fuel supply chain.
