Pakistan, Oct. 5 -- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman says his party will announce its next step after October 7. The announcement concerns petroleum product prices and the government's petroleum levy. He made the remarks while speaking to the media in Karachi.

Hafiz Naeem said the government's petrol relief package did not represent a favour. He claimed public pressure forced the government to introduce the package. He also said the package did not cover all 4 million motorcycles.

According to Hafiz Naeem, ending the petroleum levy offers the only solution. He questioned why political groups remained silent over the petroleum issue. He also rejected the idea of creating a separate system for wealthy consumers.
