Pakistan, July 21 -- Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced a nationwide protest movement against rising inflation and plans to block major highways across Pakistan on August 7, demanding relief from increasing taxes and high petroleum prices.

JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman made the announcement during a press conference in Lahore, where he criticised the government's taxation policies, particularly the petroleum levy imposed on fuel consumers.
