Pakistan, Sept. 17 -- The federal government has announced a three-month austerity drive in Islamabad amid rising petroleum prices. Under the new measures, shops, markets, and shopping malls will close at 9pm. Marriage halls and other commercial activities must end by 10pm. Hotels, restaurants, and cafes will close at 11pm.
The government issued a notification outlining the new austerity measures. Pharmacies, laboratories, clinics, hospitals, tandoors, and petrol pumps will remain exempt. Takeaway and home delivery services can also continue beyond the restaurant closing time. Bakeries and milk and dairy shops will also remain exempt.
