Pakistan, Oct. 24 -- Iran's top military commander has warned that the country will not allow US military vessels to re-enter the Persian Gulf. Major General Ali Abdollahi said American naval forces would not be permitted to approach waters surrounding the strategic waterway. Press TV reported his remarks amid continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington.

Abdollahi, who serves as Chief of the General Staff of Iran's Armed Forces, delivered the warning in a statement. He said Iran would prevent US military vessels from returning to the Persian Gulf. His remarks reflected Tehran's stated position on American naval activity in the region.
