Pakistan, April 14 -- Iran's leadership has sharpened its response to escalating tensions with the United States, urging Washington to change course while also taking a swipe at the economic fallout of the crisis. Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian said the United States must abandon its hardline policies if it wants to reach a meaningful agreement. "If the American government abandons its totalitarianism and respects the rights of the Iranian nation, ways to reach an agreement will certainly be found," he stated.
