Pakistan, Sept. 30 -- Iran said Wednesday it received a US response to its latest proposal to restore a collapsed Gulf ceasefire. The development came as Washington completed its military withdrawal from Iraq after more than two decades.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had expected a formal response after recent indirect talks. Qatar mediated contacts between Iranian and US officials during meetings linked to the United Nations General Assembly. A source briefed on the talks said both sides still disagree over the sequence of proposed steps.
