Pakistan, Sept. 24 -- Iran could widen the current Middle East conflict toward the Indian Ocean if further attacks occur, an adviser said. Yahya Rahim Safavi, an adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, issued the warning. He said any new US or Israeli attack could lead Iran to expand the conflict.

Safavi said the conflict has already moved beyond its earlier areas. According to his remarks, fighting has spread from the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz toward the Red Sea. He said another escalation could push the conflict into wider waters.
