Pakistan, Aug. 3 -- Iran said there are currently no negotiations with the United States. Instead, Tehran is holding talks with Oman to ensure secure passage through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei made the announcement during a weekly press briefing. According to Baqaei, discussions with Oman are focused on managing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's busiest maritime chokepoints. Moreover, a significant share of global oil and gas exports passes through the narrow waterway each day.
