Pakistan, Aug. 29 -- Iran's Army Commander Major General Amir Hatami has described Iran as victorious in the recent US war. He said the enemy failed to achieve its main objectives. Hatami made the remarks while honoring fallen Army personnel.

Speaking at a ceremony, Hatami paid tribute to 3,785 Army servicemen who were killed. He explained how victory is assessed differently during offensive and defensive wars. His comments were reported by Press TV.

Hatami said an attacking force is considered victorious when it achieves its military objectives. However, he said defensive victory comes from preventing the attacker from reaching those goals. He applied this principle to Iran's recent conflict with the United States.
