Pakistan, May 8 -- Iran has strongly condemned reported US attacks on two oil tankers near the port of Jask and the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the incidents occurred late on May 7 and early May 8, and described them as violations of an existing ceasefire understanding. Tehran also said its armed forces responded to the attacks.
In its statement, Iran accused the United States of escalating tensions in the strategic waterway. It said the strikes also targeted coastal areas near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route. The ministry warned that continued hostilities could further destabilize the region.
