Pakistan, Aug. 15 -- Iran has publicly claimed that Qatar detained three Iranian pilots after two Iranian aircraft were destroyed following an attack on a US base.

The claim concerns three pilots who went missing after the March 2 operation targeting the US-used Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Iranian military official Brigadier General Mohammad Baqerzadeh urged the International Committee of the Red Cross to investigate their condition.

According to Iranian media, Baqerzadeh made the request in a letter to Red Cross President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger. He said two Iranian Su-24 bombers carried out the mission before enemy air defences targeted them during their return flight.
