Pakistan, Aug. 5 -- The United States, Iran, and Oman are reportedly close to reaching an interim agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. According to a US media report, Washington could officially announce the deal today.

The proposed agreement follows weeks of indirect negotiations. It aims to restore the ceasefire between the United States and Iran while creating conditions for renewed talks on Tehran's nuclear programme.

According to the report, the temporary arrangement would last for 60 days. Moreover, both sides could extend the agreement if negotiations continue successfully.
