Pakistan, Oct. 1 -- Indian pilot Smit Machchhar has issued his first statement after being injured during a serious incident aboard a Flydubai flight. The flight was traveling from the United Arab Emirates to Israel when the incident occurred. Machchhar thanked his colleagues, passengers and crew members for supporting him during the difficult situation.

The injured pilot said he was grateful that the aircraft landed safely and that all passengers remained safe. He added that he simply performed his duty as a pilot during the emergency. The Israeli Foreign Ministry also released a photograph of Machchhar after the incident.
