Pakistan, Sept. 21 -- India and New Zealand will implement their free trade agreement on October 20, Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal said Monday. The agreement aims to expand trade between the two countries and attract investment. Both sides signed the pact in April as they seek stronger economic ties amid changes in global trade.

New Zealand's parliament recently approved legislation to implement the agreement. Under the pact, tariffs on about 95 percent of New Zealand's exports to India will fall to zero or decline significantly. The products include wine, kiwifruit and apples, giving exporters greater access to the Indian market. As a result, New Zealand businesses could gain new opportunities in India.
