Pakistan, Aug. 1 -- Human rights lawyer and activist Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir has approached the Supreme Court, requesting an urgent hearing of her appeal against the Islamabad High Court's refusal to suspend her 17-year prison sentence in the controversial social media posts case.

Through senior counsel Faisal Siddiqi, Mazari filed an application asking the apex court to suspend the January 24, 2026, conviction issued by an Additional Sessions Judge in Islamabad until her criminal appeal is decided.
