Pakistan, Aug. 17 -- Heavy rainfall flooded low-lying areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while rising water levels in Nullah Lai prompted authorities to warn residents living along its banks.

The water level at Kattarian reached 20 feet, while officials recorded a 17-foot flow at Gawalmandi Bridge. Authorities sounded warning sirens and ordered residents near the waterway to evacuate immediately.

Floodwater entered homes in Dhok Khabba and Sadiqabad as heavy showers continued across the twin cities. Golra recorded the highest rainfall at 144 millimetres, followed by Bokra with 132mm, Pirwadhai with 105mm and Gawalmandi with 77mm.
