Pakistan, Sept. 1 -- Authorities closed schools across Rawalpindi and Islamabad after heavy rain caused flooding in several areas. The downpour began around 3:20am and continued until 8am, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Rawalpindi received nearly 200 millimetres of rain, marking its highest rainfall in three years. Officials placed emergency departments on high alert as water levels rose rapidly. Residents near Nullah Lai were also advised to move towards safer locations.
