Pakistan, Aug. 22 -- The federal government has declared August 26 a public holiday across Pakistan on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). The Cabinet Division issued an official notification declaring Wednesday a public holiday nationwide following approval by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The date for Eid Milad-un-Nabi was determined after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced last week that the moon for Rabi-ul-Awwal had not been sighted. Muslims around the world observe Eid Milad-un-Nabi on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
