Pakistan, Sept. 17 -- The federal government has introduced fresh austerity and fuel conservation measures with immediate effect. The Cabinet Division issued the notification on Thursday following recommendations from the relevant monitoring committee. The measures will remain in place for three months. They aim to reduce fuel use and government spending.

Under the new arrangement, authorities will cut fuel supplies for official vehicles by 50%. Armed Forces and law enforcement vehicles will remain exempt under specified conditions. Essential services and FBR vehicles will also remain exempt from the reduction. Development projects will not face the fuel restriction.
