Pakistan, Sept. 11 -- Backchannel contacts between the government and Pakistan Peoples Party have helped ease ongoing political tensions. The efforts also focused on resolving differences over proposed legislation, according to sources.

Sources said National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq played a key role in ending the deadlock. His efforts helped bring the government and PPP closer on the disputed issues.
