Pakistan, Sept. 11 -- The government and opposition have begun consultations over the appointment of the chief election commissioner. The process also includes appointments of two Election Commission members.

Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas has responded to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's letter. He has requested a date and time for consultations with the prime minister.

Abbas responded after consulting opposition leaders, according to sources. An important opposition meeting was held at his chamber in Islamabad. Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Barrister Gohar and Salman Akram Raja attended the meeting.
