Pakistan, Aug. 15 -- The strike threat by the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has worked, as the government increased the petroleum dealers' margin by Rs1.34, taking the total margin to Rs10 per litre. The association, which was demanding an 8 percent margin, postponed its strike after accepting the increase.

Announcing the decision at an emergency press conference in Karachi, Chairman PPDA Malik Khuda Bakhsh said that after tense negotiations in Islamabad, the Federal Minister for Petroleum contacted him and informed that the Prime Minister has approved an increase of Rs1.34 in dealer margin and the summary has been sent to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for formal approval.
