Pakistan, Sept. 8 -- Gillespie has advised Pakistan coach Mike Hesson to trust his instincts and stand by his principles as he takes charge of the Test team. The former Pakistan Test coach shared the advice ahead of Hesson's first Test during the ongoing tour of England. Gillespie stepped down from his role in December 2024 after an eight-month stint with the national side.

Gillespie said Hesson is an excellent coach and a good person who should avoid becoming a "yes man." He warned Hesson against accepting decisions simply because he is receiving a salary. Meanwhile, Pakistan has entered another period of major change after suffering heavy defeats in the first two Tests of the ongoing series.
