Pakistan, Aug. 12 -- Amid goods transporters' countrywide strike stagnating the economy, Pakistan could face another nationwide petrol pump shutdown as the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the government, warning that fuel stations across the country will be closed indefinitely from 6:00 a.m. on August 15 if their demands are not accepted.
The warning came after an emergency meeting of the PPDA Executive Committee in Karachi on Tuesday. Addressing a press conference, PPDA Chairman Malik Khuda Bakhsh said the government has failed to make progress on the dealers' demands despite the passage of 15 days, causing growing frustration among around 14,000 petroleum dealers across Pakistan.
