Pakistan, Aug. 4 -- French and British vessels rescued 157 migrants after their boat caught fire during a Channel crossing attempt on Tuesday. Authorities said no casualties were reported following the major rescue operation.
France's Pas-de-Calais prefecture said the small boat caught fire near the boundary between French and British waters. The incident forced passengers to jump into the sea before rescue teams reached them.

French maritime authorities said the migrants had departed from Veules-les-Roses in Normandy on Monday. Meanwhile, British coastguard vessels and a lifeboat joined the rescue efforts after receiving reports of the fire.
